Art Salon Chinatown

Tu Nguyen was born in Binh Gia, Vietnam in 1989. Nguyen emigrated to the U.S. at the age of nine and received B.A.s in Art and Film from the University of California, Irvine in 2016. Working in sculpture, photography, and installation, Nguyen’s conceptually-driven works investigate the construction of perception, identity, and personal and collective history. Nguyen refers to many sculptures as “performative objects” because they are usually site specific and durational works that deteriorate throughout the span of their exhibition.
